I gather the word “Splat!” means nothing to this guy…
You wouldn’t actually splat… You’d bounce. And jumping isn’t too much of a dare. It’s fun! I like to do backflips out of planes! Although flat out diving like off a diving board is pretty sweet too. Or climbing out on the side of the plane and just letting going… OR you know, climbing out on the side of the plane and doing a proper exit. Either way…
Actually, that’s not entirely accurate. Today, parachutes are designed with built in microchips which detect your altitude and rate of fall and will deploy automatically if you fail to pull your chute at the correct time. So technically the poster is correct. All you need to do is jump. Pulling the cord is irrelevant. Well, assuming you turned on your microchip.
You don’t need to jump. You can be pushed.

Now this little platitude I really don’t get. See, a parachute isn’t even necessary if you don’t jump. That would seem to suggest that what he’s trying to say is it’s a good idea to do something dangerous just so you get to avoid the consequences. Like saying “Life-saving surgery doesn’t work unless you get yourself shot in the face.”
RE: Microchip – if the software is authored by Microsoft be sure to allow time for a few re-boots, service pack installs, and virus scans. Then again if it is authored by Toyota……………..

A parachute onnly works if it ain’t broken
